Yohannes Asres discovered his passion for cooking at an early age, first captivated by cooking shows at six and then stepping into the kitchen himself at twelve. By sixteen, he landed his first job in a professional kitchen and transitioned to a high school with a Specialist High Skills Major program to further develop his culinary expertise. At seventeen, he earned second place in the first-ever Chopped Canada teen competition and competed in provincial skills competitions at both the high school and college levels.

Throughout his career, Yohannes has honed his craft in several top restaurants across Toronto, mastering techniques and refining his unique approach to food. Now, at Noir, he brings together everything he has learned over the years, blending his culinary expertise with the rich traditions of his Ethiopian heritage. His goal is to offer a high-class, elevated dining and catering experience that fuses innovation with culture, creating unforgettable moments for every guest.
